I have read the Chinese version when I was little. Now, I'm reading it in a different angle. I don't focus on the main character, Madeline this time. I find out that Miss Clavel loves the 12 girls very much. When she heard they are crying, she was so worried about the girls that she rushed to their room. Those girls are orphans. Although the book didn't mention it, we can still tell from the plot. For these 12 girls, Miss Clavel is their mother. They are so lucky to have her.
The drawing style is special. Painter used many straight lines. And the main color is yellow. But when the scene is set in the city, Paris, the picture is colorful. I think he wants people to realize how beautiful this city is.
